Named winners of the international Olympiad on network technologies «CISCO STARS-2020»

Yesterday, April 9, the "CISCO STARS – 2020" Olympiad on network technologies among students of universities, colleges and schoolchildren of Kazakhstan ended. The CISSO STARS international Olympiad is held annually on the basis of the L. N. Gumilyov ENU and the Kazakh Academy of infocommunication.

The purpose of the Olympiad is to create conditions for supporting gifted students, to spread and popularize scientific and practical knowledge in the field of network technologies among young people and to generate interest in research and practical activities. In addition, participating in the Olympiad, students develop a creative approach to solving problems of building and configuring the network.

The international Olympiad "CISCO STARS-2020" was held in two stages. More than 800 students and schoolchildren from leading universities and colleges of Kazakhstan have registered for the Olympiad:

- L. N. Gumilyov ENU;

- Kazakh Agrotechnical University named after S. Seifullin;

- Almaty University of energy and communications;

- The University named after Suleyman Demirel;

- International University of information technology;

- Al-Farabi Kazakh National University;

- K. I. Satpayev Kazakh National Technical University

- Academy Step;

- Colleges and schools of Karaganda, Akmola regions and Nur-Sultan city.

The first round of the Olympiad was held remotely on the platform of the Cisco Network Academy netacad.com in the form of online testing that determines the level of knowledge of network technologies.

The first round of "CISCO STARS – 2020" was attended by 167 students of leading universities and colleges in Kazakhstan, according to the results of which 30 participants passed to the second round.

Due to the state of emergency declared in the country, the second round was also held online, where participants performed laboratory work on the Packet Tracer platform.

 

 

The award ceremony for the winners of the Olympiad was held on the universal platform of remote conferences Cisco WebEx, which was simultaneously attended by 27 people-students, University teachers, representatives of the organizing companies.

 

 

"We are very happy that despite the temporary difficulties and restrictions, the children continue to learn, develop their professionalism, thereby ensuring their demand in the market.

As practice has shown, in conditions of isolation, when communication with each other via the Internet comes first, the world needs IT specialists no less than doctors and teachers, since the latter's work is now impossible without the Internet.

A new era is coming, where everyone wants to go online. All possible communications in life and business are carried out using information and communication technologies. As a global leader in this area, Cisco is constantly working on business solutions and supports IT education through Network academies around the world," said Vladimir Sobolev, Director of the Cisco representative office in Kazakhstan.

At the solemn ceremony of summing up the results of the Olympiad, the Dean of the faculty of information technologies of the L. N. Gumilyov ENU Seilov Shakhmaran congratulated all participants and wished them further professional growth, and also thanked the sponsors, representatives of Telecom operators who supported the Olympiad, such as JSC "ASTEL", JSC" Kazakhtelecom", JSC" TransTeleCom "and JSC" National information technologies.

Special thanks were expressed to the trainers of Cisco networking Academy, Kazakh Academy of infocommunication technologies in Nurhachu Abdullaeva and Agnieta Nurabaeva, as well as members of the organizing Committee of the Olympic games and Merelim Kasenova, the creative Director of the Olympics, Deputy Dean of it faculty of ENU L. N. Gumilev, who ensured the good organization of the Olympiad in online mode, and transparent and fair judging.

The winners of the Olympiad were Berik Abdrakhman (ENU, I place), Dias Asatulla and Dias Pak (Academy STEP, II place), Roman Shein, Aibek Primbek (ENU) and Maxim Votchal (STEP Academy, III place).

 

 

 

 At the ceremony of congratulating the winners, first place winner Berik Abdrakhman said: "Many modern schoolchildren think about their future even while studying at school, I also became interested in ICT at school. The CISCO STARS Olympiad provides us with a chance to demonstrate our knowledge and talent to potential employers. Moreover, participants of such competitions can get an invitation to work already while participating in the Olympics. This, in any case, was the case in previous years, when well-known companies such as TransTeleCom, Kazakhtelecom, and NIT JSC acted as employers. I was invited to work for Huawei last year, and I took 2nd place at that time. Many thanks to all the organizers of the Olympiad. I would like to Express my gratitude to the founder of this international CISCO STARS Olympiad in Kazakhstan, our inspiration and now the Dean of the fit ENU named after L. N. Gumilyov, Shakhmaran zhursinbekovich Seilov. It does a great and necessary job to increase the human capital in the ICT sector of Kazakhstan. I wish all participants and my friends at the University further growth and success. I have achieved my goal, which I set for myself last year, when I took the honorable 2nd place."

The winners of all categories of the Olympiad were awarded at the ceremony with prizes provided by partners and sponsors of the Olympiad and certificates. The main sponsors of the Olympiad were Cisco, the Kazakh Academy of infocommunication and the General sponsor, the leading communications operator of Kazakhstan, ASTEL JSC. The winner, Berik abdrahman, who took 1st place, will receive the General sponsor's award from Cisco-Iphone 11 pro of the latest model.
