About the Program

The main goal of the project is to build a computer model for performance and optimization of wind farms (renewable energy source) using augmented reality. Computer rendering of the action of wind turbines using augmented reality will allow the operator to model the performance of this renewable energy source for different input and output parameters. Digital devices based an AR will allow monitoring and trouble-shooting of different components in real time. The advantage of AR is that it allows us to model the performance of wind turbines close to real-life situations and can be useful for their construction, particularly to cut down the instances of failure that can happen in real-life situations.

The proposed project consists of the following components that cover these three directions: research, education, and international collaboration. Namely,

1) Modeling and optimization of future wind energy harvesting in Kazakhstan with augmented reality as a simulation tool.

2) Development of a new educational component (new course) to train future workforce for the emerging industry of renewable energy sources.

3) Enhancement of the international collaboration between the Universities of US and Kazakhstan by strengthening the existing partnership between UTRGV and ENU and ToU.
