On February 23, 2022, the opening ceremony of the "Silver IT University" of the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University of the Faculty of Information Technology took place.
Against the background of the growth of the elderly population in the world, its social activity is relevant. The so-called "silver age" generation, or generation 60+, accounts for 13.17% of the 7.6 billion people in the world. the population of the globe. In Kazakhstan, this figure is 11% of the 18.5 million population.
In recent years, Kazakhstan has created conditions and opportunities for additional education for various social groups of society, this is the emergence of many schools, courses, platforms for mental, social, spiritual, and physical development for such categories of our society as children and youth.
All these types of additional education can be sufficiently implemented on the site of the so-called "Silver Universities", which are integrated into the concept of continuing education.
"Silver IT University" is an innovative form of social service that allows the older generation to receive a certain level of knowledge and practical IT skills for free.
The official start of this event was given by a member of the Board - Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs - Ongarbayev Zh.A. In his speech, he noted the importance of continuing education for society and wished good luck in their studies to all students of the courses of the "Silver IT University".
Dean of the Faculty of Information Technologies Seilov Shakhmaran Zhursinbekovich in his speech noted that the Concept of Continuing Education (continuing education), the State Program for the Development of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2020-2025, provides for the development of a mechanism for the creation of "Silver Universities".
Within the framework of the state program "Digital Kazakhstan" and to improve the digital literacy of the population, the Faculty of Information Technology has developed a comprehensive "Digital Skills Development Program I-EVOLUTIONS", which includes 4 areas:
1. Silver IT University educational program for the elderly.
2. IT academy for school-age students to improve the digital skills of schoolchildren and young people, attract them to the IT specialties of the university and popularize the IT-sphere.
3. For graduates of IT specialties, a course of pedagogical retraining, who do not have a pedagogical education, who for the first time begin the professional activity of a teacher of the appropriate profile.
4. For secondary school computer science teachers - advanced training courses for secondary school computer science teachers-to improve professional knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Akhmetova Zhanar Zhumanovna, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Information Technologies, proposed at the first stage to train internal silversmiths, taking into account the urgent need for continuing education in Kazakhstan as an aid to self-realization with the widespread use of innovative technologies.
Honorary guests of the city and the university were invited to the grand opening of the "Silver IT University" - Senator, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kalizhanov U.K., Chairman of the public association "Tarikhi Atazhurt", public figure, writer Uzben Kurmanbayuly and Director of the IPC of the Eurasian National University named after L.N. Gumilyov Ilyasova A.S.
The head of the "Silver IT University", the head of the department "Informatics" Zulpykhar Zh.Е., presented the training course. In his speech, he introduced the audience and guests to the content of the course "Digital Literacy" within the framework of the Silver IT University:
