The Department of Computer and software engineering was formed on September 1, 2006. The Department of Computer and software engineering prepares specialties:

Graduates will be able to work as IT specialists: in banks, at enterprises and in managing entire industries, creating automated systems for production planning and management; at enterprises and institutions, developing and servicing queuing systems and information and reference systems; in educational institutions; in the service centers for repair and diagnostics of computers and office equipment.
The department conducts research projects funded by the MES RK. The leaders of scientific projects are professors: Iskakov K.T., Atanov S.K., Satybaldina D.Zh., associate professors: Tashatov N.N., Dzhuzbaeva B.G.
Teachers of the Computer Engineering Department closely cooperate with the Information Security and Cryptology Research Institute, which was opened in 2012 on the basis of the Faculty of Information Technologies.
