Reserarch work of teaching staff
The faculty of the Department of Automated Control Systems is actively engaged in scientific research. The department conducts scientific research in 2 schools: the Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Beysenbi Mamyrbek Aukebaevich, and the Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Orazbaev Batyr Bidaybekovich.
The number of scientific publications by the faculty members over the past five years in international peer-reviewed journals included in specific quartiles (Q1-Q4) in the Clarivate Analytics databases or the percentile indicator by CiteScore in the Scopus database is 51. Out of these:
In journals Q1-Q2 and/or with a CiteScore percentile above 90 – 13 publications;
In journals Q3-Q4 and/or with a CiteScore percentile above 50 – 19 publications;
In journals with a CiteScore percentile above 35 – 10 publications.
In Kazakhstani journals included in the list of the Committee for Quality Assurance in Education and Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 38 papers have been published in the last five years. The highest scientific activity is observed from Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Orazbaev B.B. (Hirsch index in the Web of Science database – 6, Hirsch index in the Scopus database – 16).
In recent years, the number of publications by the faculty members in journals indexed in Web of Science and Scopus has significantly increased. In 2021, the number of publications was: Web of Science – 1, Scopus – 12; in 2022: Web of Science – 2, Scopus – 14; in 2023: Web of Science – 9, Scopus – 20; and in 2024: Web of Science – 5, Scopus – 14. The scientific works and articles by the faculty members of the department focus on the current issues of modern control theory, information technology, automation, and control.
The practical activity of the teaching staff of the department is expressed in the implementation of scientific projects, the publication of textbooks and teaching aids introduced into the learning process. The participation of teachers in research projects contributes to the training of specialists at the modern level. The research topics of the faculty of the department are coordinated with the national development priorities and the development strategy of the university, including the directions of scientific, scientific, technical and innovative activities in accordance with the priorities of socio-economic development, with the key directions of strategic, fundamental and applied scientific research in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Professor V.V. Nikulin from Binghamton University, New York State, Binghamton, USA, participated in the project.

Project AR08855680 «Intellektualizirovannaya sistema podderzhki prinyatiya resheniy dlya upravleniya rezhimami raboty ustanovki kataliticheskogo riforminga,» Agreement No. 321 dated November 19, 2020 (Project Leader: Professor Orazbaev B.B.). Professor Xiao-Guang Yue from the European University of Cyprus, Cyprus, participated in the project.

Project AP23489120 « Metody i algoritmy postroeniya tsifrovykh dvoynikov promyshlennykh ustanovok neftepererabotayushchikh proizvodstv,»Agreement No. 189/GF24-26 dated September 9, 2024 (Project Leader: Associate Professor Uskembaeva G.A.). Professor Igor Slastenov from the Digital Technologies Center LLC, Moscow, Russia, participates in the project.
- MES RK. State Funding for 2024-2026. Project AP23490181 «Development of an Intelligent Water Resources Management System and IoT,» MES RK, Agreement No. 189/GF24-26 dated September 9, 2024 (Project Leader: Sagnaeva S.K.). Professor Michael James Crabbe from Wolfson College, Oxford University, UK, participates in the project.
Doctoral student Boranbaeva N.B. (admitted in 2021) won a grant in the «Zhas Ghalym» competition for the MES RK State Funding for 2025-2027. Her project, titled AP25795091 "Development of an Intelligent System for Managing the Catalytic Cracking Process," was approved in the minutes of the National Scientific Council No. 1 dated February 3-19, 2025 (Doctoral Supervisor: Professor Orazbaev B.B.).
Senior Lecturer Orman I.M. won a grant for a research internship in the "TOP-500 Scientists" competition under the Bolashak program at King’s College London (London, UK, from March 18, 2024, to May 18, 2025).
Associate Professor Uskembaeva G.A. won a grant for a research internship in the "TOP-500 Scientists" competition under the Bolashak program at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (Champaign, Illinois, USA, from June 29, 2025, to May 26, 2026).
